How Tankless Propane Water Heaters Work

Propane water heater

If I say “water heater,” most of you will probably think about a bulky, tin can-looking tank that takes up lots of space in your basement and runs out of hot water when you’re enjoying a long shower.

But what if I told you your water heater could be the size of a small suitcase, mount on a wall, and give you hot water for hours on end?

That’s what you’ll get with tankless propane water heater. Here’s how it works:

A tankless propane water heater is extremely efficient – first, because it never has to reheat water (as a traditional water heater does after its water has been sitting for a while), and second because it has no pilot light.

How much more efficient are tankless water heaters than traditional models? As much as 50 percent! And keep in mind that it’s also almost impossible to run out of hot water with a tankless system, no matter how many showers, hot baths or laundry loads are running.

Tankless water heaters also last longer than systems with a tank – about 20 years compared to about 12 on average for a conventional water heater.
