Late-Winter Heater Issues: Be Prepared

Posted: March 8, 2021

furnace repair massachusettsTune-ups and repairs on your heating system are a necessary part of homeownership. If you have not yet had your annual system tune-up, now’s the time to do it. A tune-up gives our team of friendly technicians the chance to identify issues with your home heating system—even if it’s just the first stages of a problem.

Trust us: it’s much easier—and far less expensive—to take care of a minor problem we identify during a tune-up than it is to wait until a small furnace or boiler issue becomes a big problem.

Furnace Warning Signs

Tune-ups are important even if everything seems fine with your furnace or boiler. However, if you notice anything out of the ordinary you should definitely let us know right away. Here are a few red flags to look out for:

  1. Your utility bills have inexplicably increased.
  2. Your vents no longer blow hot air.
  3. Your baseboards are not hot.
  4. You hear grinding or banging sounds coming from your system.
  5. Your pilot light, if you have one, is yellow.
  6. Your system doesn’t turn on, or if it does it doesn’t last.
  7. Your system doesn’t shut off.

General HVAC Maintenance Is Key!

You can avoid many of the problems listed above when you schedule annual maintenance. Still, If you end up needing a repair, you’ll be glad you caught the issue early, and avoided a potential no-heat situation.
